Emilia Kilpua

Principal Investigator

Emilia Kilpua is a professor in space physics working at the University of Helsinki. She is studying how giant plasma clouds from the Sun, coronal mass ejections, form and how they evolve and propagate in interplanetary space, and how they disturb the Earth and other planets of our solar system. She and her team develop both advanced data-driven simulations and perform comprehensive data-analysis using a comprehensive set of satellite measurements. Emilia is the Principal Investigator of the project from the UH side. Her main tasks are to supervise the postdocs and PhD students in the team and participate in all parts of the work, with the focus on magnetospheric physics and solar-terrestrial interactions.
