GERACLE at Space Climate 10

Created by Kseniia Golubenko |

Last week, Austrian and Finnish members of our project actively participated in the international 10th Space Climate Symposium (JUNE 9-12, 2026, Åland/Ahvenanmaa, autonomous region of Finland).

Prof. Ilya Usoskin and Dr. Kseniia Golubenko (Oulu team) also served as organizers this year, chairing the scientific and local committees.

The Space Climate Symposia Series has a history spanning more than two decades and brings together leading experts to explore long-term solar variability and its impacts on space weather, the atmosphere, and climate.

For the sparsely populated Åland Islands, hosting a conference with more than 100 participants was a notable event, widely covered by local radio and news outlets.

GERACLE outcomes were shown by many interesting presentations including an invited talk by Pavle Arsenovic (BOKU) entilted "Atmospheric and Climate Impacts of an Extreme Solar Particle Event Under the Reconstructed Laschamps Geomagnetic Field" and a poster from Shipra Sinha (University of Oulu) entilted "Magnetospheric Response to Non-Dipolar Fields During Geomagnetic Excursions and Reversals (GERs)".

More info about the Symposium you can find here.
