GERACLE project team connects at EGU General Assembly
Researchers from the GERACLE project participated in the annual European Geoscience Union (EGU) General Assembly in May 2026, fostering scientific exchange and strengthening team connections. Representatives from nearly all teams within the project attended the conference held in Vienna.
Presentations from University of Helsinki’s Eleanna Asvestari and Andreas Wagner, GFZ’ Pablo Rivera Perez, and BOKU Vienna’s Harald Rieder, Pavle Arsenovic, and Bruno Lehner (please click their names for the abstracts to the first-author presentations) showcased both project-specific findings (e.g. Pablo’s presentation focused on the Gauss-Matuyama reversal) and related prior research.
Beyond the scientific program, the EGU Assembly provided an important opportunity for team members to connect personally. Eleanna, Pablo, and Bruno met for an informal lunch on May 5, while other colleagues utilized breaks and networking opportunities to build relationships. This was particularly valuable for those who joined the project following the initial kick-off meeting, allowing them to meet their collaborators in person and discuss their work and expectations for the GERACLE project.
